First Friday: PTZART + Qutori Wines + Brrrnana
Philip Teas is a semi-retired geologist refocusing on his art after moving to the Western Slope of Colorado. Inspired by world travels and life abroad along with lifelong passion for the outdoors, Philip creates abstract art pieces with a leaning to organic and natural forms often reimagined in vibrant colors.
Philip specializes in flowing pen and ink sketch work merged digitally with colorful pieces created in various mediums. Geology is a mix of science and art, geologists work from limited data and extrapolate both into the depths of the earth as well as into the depths of time. Imagination and rendering of imagination into imagery are critical components for promoting geologic concepts and ideas.
Sketching is also critical for capturing landscape scale observations into geologic understanding. A lifelong use of sketchwork for a career has helped Philip develop techniques for rendering imagination to imagery.
